I strive to facilitate and foster a laboratory environment for students to experience dance and movement, while simultaneously giving them a strong foundation in technique and a reverence for their bodies’ capacities. On a functional level, I provide students with skills and tools to access healthy and joyful relationships to movement through mobility, stability, kinesthetic awareness, dynamics, effort, subtlety, strength, musicality, and rhythm. I see dance as an opportunity to witness and participate in an atmosphere that is a microcosm of contemporary social and cultural society. Whether performing/practicing solo or in a large ensemble, dance provides for exploration and investigation of language, expression, intention, inquiry, protest, problem-solving, conflict resolution, integrity, collaboration, ambition, failure, resilience, mastery, execution of purpose, pride, satisfaction, and reflection.
